Letter to the Sacramento Bee - Kevin Wolf April 11, 2005 Dear Editor "Conaway Ranch Sale Sparks Fear..." April 11, 2005. Yolo County supervisors are right not to trust Steve Gidaro. In the last Davis City Council election he almost got away with the most massive and deceptive developer intervention in the city's electoral history. Only by luck did we find his $20,000 plus independent campaign expenditure in favor of three candidates 5 minutes after 5 pm on the Thursday before the election. We couldn't figure out who he was because his attorney misspelled his name as Guidero in the filing. Most of Gidaro's money went to pay for professional phone callers in a voter identification and Get Out the Vote drive. His efforts almost certainly affected the outcome of the election. Our supervisors should do all they can to prevent Gidaro from controlling and exploiting the Conaway Ranch, its water, its habitat and its productive farmland. Kevin Wolf |
